Happy Valentine's Day

Any day is an occasion to celebrate like we do almost every other month and sometimes more often than that. We connect, catch up and do things impromptu.

Why is this post coming after Valentine's day? Because of Google. See this chart below

GoogleWe decided to stay home for dinner and invited friends over for a potluck. There were 3 couples and an interesting gentleman whose name coincides with the day we celebrated. Other names have been kept confidential since they belong to the society's who's who (building society of course). Most of us came dressed in red, but the gentleman mentioned said he was beyond these labels. A friend joked that his pink T-shirt looked red in low light.

We had potato wafers, kababs, and sandwiches for snacks, then enjoyed a delicious dinner of soya paneer, cauliflower, potatoes, and biryani. Of course we also had some feni, single malts, gin, rum, kombucha and water as well. All of this for a cost of less than ₹ 500 per head (and yes we switched on the airconditioning when it got warm).

We played an online game (https://www.codegame.cards) and had great conversations (solved some of the world's most pressing problems such as pollutions, Indian business models and succession etc.) We ended the evening just before midnight, as people got a bit restless around 11 pm.

It did not take Google to tell us that we had changed. We just used the occasion to celebrate like we do almost every other month and sometimes more often than that. We connect, catch up and do things impromptu quite often. We visited a friend's birthday party earlier, celebrating with cake and sandwiches. There were eight of us singing Happy Birthday in the building compound, making the host blush.

May we have many more joyful gatherings (as one dinner guest mentioned) and embrace the upcoming season of Lent as a time for reflection.

Reunions, catchups add a lot more warmth to our life (Mumbai's warm weather also helps)
